The challenge
Three 400-ton mechanical presses were hand-fed. The customer's safety team had logged 9 near-misses in 18 months and the OSHA recordable rate was trending upward. Cycle time depended on operator pace and varied ±15%.
What we built
FANUC R-2000iC/210L robots with magnetic end-effectors load the press from a destacker and unload to an exit conveyor. SICK safety scanners and Pilz PNOZmulti safety logic enforce a category 4 stop. Three identical cells let the customer cross-train operators across presses.
